Kailh Box Jade Clicky Switches Switches Kailh

Kailh Box Jade Clicky Switches

Kailh Box Jade switches are a fan-favourite in the mechanical keyboard community, known for providing a "thick click" experience that is both crisp and incredibly tactile. Part of Kailh’s "Thick Click" series, the Jades use a thicker click bar than standard clicky switches, resulting in a deeper, more resonant sound and a sharper tactile event. By pairing this thick click bar with a lighter spring than the Box Navys, they offer a snappy, "crunchy" feel that is highly satisfying for rhythmic typing.

Key Features of Kailh Box Jade Switches:

  • Thick Click Bar Technology: Produces a louder, fuller click sound on both the downstroke and upstroke compared to traditional click-jacket switches.
  • Sharp Tactility: Features a prominent, snappy tactile bump that occurs right at the point of actuation for maximum feedback.
  • BOX Protection Structure: The unique box-style stem design provides IP56-rated dust and water resistance while minimising stem wobble for more stable keypresses.
  • Enhanced Durability: Built with high-quality internal components rated for a lifespan of up to 80 million keystrokes.

Compatible Keyboards

Kailh Box Jade switches are compatible with hot-swappable mechanical keyboards that use standard MX-style sockets. Popular examples include:

  • Keychron keyboards (Q, V, and K Pro series)
  • Glorious GMMK and GMMK 2
  • Ducky One 3, Epomaker, and Womier keyboards

Note: These switches use a standard 3-pin design and are compatible with the vast majority of hot-swap PCBs, including those that support Cherry, Gateron, and other Kailh switches.

Why Choose Kailh Box Jade Switches?

If you love the signature sound of the Box Navy but find its weight tiring for long typing sessions, the Box Jade is the perfect middle ground. It maintains the same deep, "thocky-click" sound profile but uses a 50g actuation force that is easier on the fingers. They are widely regarded as one of the best "pure typing" switches on the market for those who enjoy heavy auditory and physical feedback.

Ideal for Typists and Enthusiasts

Kailh Box Jades are the gold standard for users who want their keyboard to feel—and sound—like a modern high-performance typewriter. While they may be too loud for a shared office environment, they are the top choice for home setups where precision, speed, and a satisfying "crunchy" click are the priorities.

Frequently asked questions

What do the Kailh Box Jade Clicky Switches feel like?

Clicky, so you get both a tactile bump and a sharp audible click as the key registers. It is easily the loudest of the three types - excellent for typing feedback, less popular in a shared office or on a voice call.

That makes the Kailh Box Jade Clicky Switches a clicky switch - if you have used a clicky switch before and liked it, these will feel familiar.

They actuate at 50g, which counts as a medium-weight switch.

As a rough guide, under 45g is light and fast but easier to press by accident, 45-60g suits most people for both typing and gaming, and above 60g is deliberate and firm - popular with heavy-handed typists who want to avoid mistakes.

The key registers after 1.8mm and bottoms out at 3.6mm of total travel.

A shorter actuation distance means the keypress is picked up sooner, which is why speed switches shorten it for gaming. A longer one gives you more room to rest your fingers on the keys without triggering them.

No - these ship unlubed.

That is normal at this price and many people fit them exactly as they are. If you want them smoother and quieter you can hand-lube them yourself with a switch opener and a thin lube such as Krytox 205g0 - it is a slow job, but it makes a noticeable difference.

These are 3-pin (plate mount) switches.

It has three pins: two metal contact pins and one central plastic post. 3-pin switches drop straight into plate-mounted and hot-swap keyboards. If your board is PCB-mounted and expects 5-pin switches, a 3-pin switch still works - it just relies on the plate for stability.

This listing is sold in packs of 1, 5, 10, 35, 70, 90, 110.

As a guide: a 60% keyboard needs about 61-68 switches, a TKL about 87, and a full-size board about 104. It is worth ordering a few spare in case one is faulty or you lose one during the build. If you only want to try the feel before committing, buy a single switch first.
